VJH Beneficiary of PanCaribbean’s Sigma Corporate Run

Pan Caribbean Financial Services has announced Victoria Jubilee Hospital as the beneficiary of the proceeds from the 2011 Sigma Corporate Run. The proceeds from the 13th Annual PanCaribbean Sigma Corporate Run will benefit the hospital’s Neo Natal Unit. The run scheduled for February 20, 2011, is the largest road race in Jamaica, and caters to a wide range of athletes such as, runners, walkers, joggers, persons bound to a wheelchair and participants at all fitness levels.

The event is intended to inspire fun, good health and solidarity among employees in the Jamaican business environment, while fundraising for worthy causes. Last year, the run saw record-breaking participation, with more than 11,000 participants.
Over $11 million was earned and disbursed to the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, Jamaica Society for the Blind and the Jamaica Association for the Deaf. A total of 105 corporate entities participated in 2010 , up from the 85 companies which took part in 2009. Since the initial staging of Sigma Corporate Run in 1999, charitable donations of over $40 million have been given to several health and child-related charities.

PanCaribbean's Sigma Corporate Run is a 5.6K fun run, which begins with pre-race activities at Emancipation Park in New Kingston and closes with a post-run awards ceremony and celebration.
