The Bank of Jamaica continued its good run in the 2011 Business House Volleyball Season, coming out on top in the Supreme Ventures sponsored one day rally held at the UWI Gymnasium yesterday, Sunday May 1, 2011. After packed day of play seeing some forty matches, the BOJ Gators emerged champion winning two of the three section finals and taking top honors with 13 points. Guardian Life came second with 9, the UWI third with 7 points, AMECO fourth with 6 points and the NWC fifth with 5 points.

The BOJ lost the first section final when their female team went down 6-9 to UWI. Undaunted however, the ladies joined their male counterparts to snatch the Mixed Team title defeating Guardian Life 9-4, then watched the men chomp their way to victory in the Male Team Section 9-6 over Guardian Life in what was the most exciting final of the day.

Despite being rated top seed in all three sections at the start of play, by virtue of having won all three in the first One-Day Rally, BOJ was only able to maintain that top position in The Mixed Team section by the time the playoffs came around. The team was ranked second in the Male Section behind Guardian Life and third in the Female Section behind the top seeded UWI.
In Mixed Team action Guardian upset the 2nd seeded UWI in the semi-finals 9-8, while BOJ defeated AMECO 9-7 in the other semi. The biggest upset came in the playoff for third place where AMECO defeated the 2nd seeded UWI 9-2.
In the Male Team section semi-finals, top seeded Guardian Life defeated NWC 9-4 in the first semi, while BOJ defeated NWC 9-3 in the other semi. AMECO defeated NWC to take third place with a 9-7 score.
In the Female semis, top seeded UWI defeated NWC 9-0 while the 3rd seeded BOJ upset the second seeded Guardian Life 9-6. In the playoff for third place, the NWC team which had not won a match in the preliminary round defeated Guardian Life 9-7.
With one more Rally left before the start of League play on June 5, the overall standings now see BOJ leading the table with 18 points; Guardian Life second with 13; NWC third with 11 points; UWI fourth with 6 points and AMECO fifth with 5 points.
BOJ captain, Lynton Young after receiving the winning team trophy on behalf of the Gators, sent out a warning to the other teams, “We will be coming for the third rally trophy too on May 29.”

Immediately after the third rally, the Reggae Jammin Indoor League will commence Sunday, June 5.
Registration for interested teams is still open. In addition to the main sponsors Reggae Jammin and Supreme Ventures, the league now has a third sponsor, Kingston Mini-Cakes who came on board in time for the second rally.
