Sagicor ‘Spending time, Shaping lives’ on Primary School Tour

Sagicor Life Jamaica has embarked on an islandwide school tour as a part of its support of early childhood education under the theme ‘Spending time, Shaping lives’. The tour aims to touch the lives of 50,000 students, giving them positive role models and taking the time to interact with them while giving motivation and encouragement.

The tour was launched on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Alpha Primary and Holy Family Primary schools. Approximately one thousand children participated in activities and giveaways, eagerly answering questions from the specially developed illustrated book on how insurance helps to provide protection and peace of mind. The Sagicor team also shared with the students the importance of saving at an early age, which can help lead them on the path to success.

Cecille Palmer, Principal of Holy Family Primary in Downtown Kingston says the visit was greatly appreciated, with the children embracing the message. “It was very informative. They were talking about it after and showing each other the prizes they won. I am sure they went home and told their parents. The message about ‘one one coco full basket’ is something they can relate to and carry through life. They are the ones who will have to come up and make a difference, so this was welcomed and well-timed.”
Other schools visited in the first week of the tour were Windward Road, Holy Rosary, George Headley, Duhaney Park, Rollington Town, Excelsior and Harbour View Primary schools. Debbie McFarlane, Guidance Counsellor at George Headley Primary says the visit was successful, with the presentation very well-received. “The students really enjoyed it as it was very interactive. And the message is so important. Sagicor is awakening an awareness in them, to develop an attitude for saving that is so crucial, especially within this economic environment.”
