Lawe, during his acceptance speech outlined some of the plans to be expedited during his tenure. “Our theme for this year is ‘Re-Engage, Building Synergies’. For this administrative year, as a unified body, we intend to lead the charge in taking on industry developments and fighting the industry battles,” declared Lawe.
The newly appointed President went on to state his views on leading the board. “I am delighted and honoured to serve the association – it’s a member association; so of course, the power is with the people. I am just a mere pawn,” expressed Lawe. “What I intend to bring to the fore, is some of my exuberance. Getting in, what I think the association is lacking – the energy, the efficiencies of modern day and really just bringing back the joy and life into the life insurance industry.”
To date, some 16 Sagicor Team Members have served as President of the association since 1960. Other appointments include Hugh Meredith, PR & Community Projects, Monica Robothom, Fundraising Chair and Grace Martin, Western Chapter Chair from the Sagicor Team. These three appointments to the board, along with Lawe’s, signify another high point in the Sagicor’s history.
