Sagicor has announced Her Excellency the Most Honourable Lady Allen and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, OD as the Patrons of the 2013 Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run slated for Sunday, February 17.
The financial group has this year selected Bustamante Hospital for Children, Best Care Lodge and Jamaica National Children’s Home as beneficiaries of the monies to be raised from the 2013 staging.
Wife of Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and an advocate for children and the elderly, Lady Allen, now works with youth in several state-run juvenile facilities and children’s homes. One day each week, she visits the Bustamante Hospital for Children and reads for the children.
Commenting on her decision to accept Sagicor’s request, the first lady declared “Agreeing to be the Patron for the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run for the second year was a no brainer for me. Last year, Sagicor not only raised money but also invested it for the Bustamante Hospital for Children. This company plans, implements, delivers and monitors.”
Meanwhile, two time Olympic champion and advocate for the poor, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce believes that initiatives such as the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run should be endorsed by all Jamaicans. “There are not many events today that dedicate all proceeds to charity. I support the movement and hope that in the long run initiatives such as these will ensure that premium care is experienced by every child in Jamaica.”
