Registration now closed for Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run

Registration for the 15th staging of the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run closed on Friday, February 1, 2013. Spirits among company employees were at fever pitch when the number of entrants hit the targeted 20,000 participants; cementing the Sigma Run as the largest 5k road race in the Caribbean. The triumph is just shy of 4,000 more than the over 16000 participants which participated in 2012.
Commenting on the achievement, Donovan Perkins, President and CEO of Sagicor Investments said “At Sagicor, we believe strongly in doing the impossible. Setting 20,000 as our target this year was ambitious, but we knew that with good organisation and support from patriotic Jamaicans and dedicated private sector entities that this feat could be accomplished.”

The CEO went on to say “We are grateful for the dedication of Jamaicans to this charity based event since the race started in 1999. The Sigma Run has initiated positive changes in the standard of care offered to our nation’s children.”

This year, the company has followed through with the event’s mandate to enhance the lives of Jamaica’s children. The Jamaica National Children’s Home, Best Care Lodge and The Bustamante Hospital for Children will receive 100 per cent of the proceeds from this year’s staging.

In a statement issued recently, Perkins wished to thank all 2013 registrants, volunteers and sponsors for making a bold move to assist Sagicor in working towards sanctioning this year’s tagline: ‘Healthy Spaces, Smiling Faces’.

The annual event which incorporates runners, walkers and wheel chair entrants takes place on Sunday, February 17 along a route starting at Sagicor’s R. Danny Williams Building in New Kingston.

2013 sponsors include RJR Communications Group, Gleaner Company, Catherine's Peak, Pepsi, Digicel, eMedia Interactive, National Baking, King Alarm, Advertising and Marketing, Stewart Automotive Group, Nestle Jamaica and Wisynco.
