Registration Extended for WATA/Nuttall 5K

Registration for the WATA/Nuttall Memorial Hospital Pre-Mother’s Day 5K Road Race has been extended to Wednesday, May 8. Organizers decided to change the deadline from Friday, May 3 after receiving an increasing  number of requests from individuals, running clubs, groups and organizations in the last few days leading up to the closing date.

More and more individuals, corporate companies, clubs and teams are expressing an interest in participating in the event set for Saturday, May 11 at the Nuttall Hospital. The move to extend the sign up period gives groups more time to rally teams together and get as many participants as possible. As an incentive, WATA will give a case of Powerade and WATA for all teams with 20 or more entrants.

Alfred ‘Frano’ Francis of Running Events Limited explained the decision to add another five days to the registration period. “We have been receiving requests from quite a number of groups who want to enter at the last minute so we decided to extend the time. We will be closing registration three days before the event so that still gives us enough time to prepare; we have things under control. We just encourage persons to sign up before May 8,” said Francis.

A large number of runners and walkers are expected to turn out for the Pre-Mother’s Day event in aid of refurbishing the Nuttall Memorial Hospital. Participants will have quite an easy and enjoyable run, says Francis. After turning onto Stanton Terrace, coming off of Arthur Wint Drive, there is a gradual decline over the last 2.5 km which will be a comfortable run for participants. This is one of the most anticipated race routes because of the fast finishing times expected from the almost downhill leg.

Persons will have another four days to sign up for the highly anticipated event. Interested persons may register online at, or at the Nuttall Memorial Hospital at a fee of $1,000 per person. Individuals, corporate teams and running groups are encouraged to participate for the upliftment of the Nuttall Hospital.
