Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) hails Sagicor’s quality of service

The Bureau of Standards Jamaica has lauded Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited for being a true leader in its category and epitomising service delivery of the highest quality which augurs well for the continued growth and development of the Jamaican economy. This, after Sagicor was awarded The National Quality Awards’ (NQA) overall award for Excellence in Service for 2013-2014 at a Ceremony and Banquet at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston mid-October.

Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited also took two sectional awards for Excellence In Human Resource Focus andExcellence In Organisational Focus for the NQA – a partnership between The Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce and The Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ).

Julia Bonner Douett, Director of Standards at the Bureau of Standards Jamaica says “The determination of the NQA winner is a rigorous process of assessments by which Sagicor is deemed to have well documented systems which are meticulously implemented, thereby making the company a leader in the service sector. This is a significant milestone. Sagicor has demonstrated its commitment to honouring its environmental and legal obligations, characterised by outstanding corporate and social responsibility.”

The Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) through the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, developed the National Quality Awards (NQA) Programme in 2004. The NQA Programme is Jamaica’s first quality systems based awards programme which seeks to recognise and reward local companies that demonstrate the application of standards and quality systems in both the production of goods and delivery of service.

Douett goes on to state “Sagicor has also exemplified itself in the areas of human resources management and organisational focus.  This is indicative of the Company’s emphasis on training and development and performance management resulting in a professional, competent and motivated workforce.”
