JHTA and Reggae Marathon host International culinary display
The Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) Negril will welcome participants to the 2014staging of Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K with super carb uploads, at the World's Best Pasta Party on the eve of race day, Friday, December 5 from 5:30 pm – 8:30pm at Couples Swept Away Negril.
The party is staged as a pre race event where participants can stack up on carbs for race day with some of the finest pasta meals such as the world famous Rasta Pasta. With pasta provided by the Jamaica Macaroni Factory and dishes being prepared by some of the finest chefs in Negril, patrons are in for a fine treat all the while enjoying the sounds of Reggae throughout the evening. The buffet style event is free to registered participants and open to the public for a fee of US$15 or JMD$1700 to dine in dishes from top chains such as Beaches Negril, Sandals Negril, RIU Palace Tropical Bay and Club RIU, Grand Palladium, Hedonism and Azul Sensatori Jamaica.
“The pasta party has grown into a world famous event for the variety of dishes that it offers. The chefs have also mastered the inclusion of local gluten-free Jamaican produce, such as yam, breadfruit and bananas for a carb-loaded feast that race participants enjoy” said Carolyn Wright, JHTA councilor and general manager of Rondel Village.
“The pasty party and Reggae Marathon event has really contributed to the Negril business hub and surrounding environs as the increase from visitors during the period is massive. I was on the original organizing committee for the Reggae Marathon and one reason this date was chosen was because it was a ‘down time’ in visitor arrivals and the event has really improved the arrival rate,” she concluded.
The pasta party follows the Reggae Marathon Sound-off slated for Thursday, December 4 where the sound systems will vie for a chance to play along the race route on Saturday, December 6.
The Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association’s (JHTA) ‘World’s Greatest Pasta Party’ kick starts the weekend’s activities on Friday, December 5 at Couples Swept Away Negril, Sports Complex from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Registered participants can access the event at no additional cost while unregistered persons can gain entry at a cost of US$15 or JMD$1700.
The 14th staging of the Reggae Marathon and Half Marathon & 10K will take place on Saturday, December 6 starting at 5:15 am at the Long Bay Beach Park in Negril with the Victory Beach Party and Awards Ceremony set to follow starting at 7:00 am. Participants can expect the sounds of Reggae throughout the event with the use of mobile sound systems along the race and during the Finish Line Bash.
