Jamaica hosts FIFA delegation for regional development workshop

FIFA Development Officer to the South-East Caribbean, Howard McIntosh will host a group of delegates from the governing body of the ‘world’s game’ at a FIFA development workshop from Saturday, January 17 – Sunday, January 18 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. The group will then travel to Western Jamaica, where they will be in attendance for the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championships Group-A match between Jamaica and the United States at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The workshop is being staged as part of the development strategy of FIFA for the advancement of the game in the CONCACAF Region. The group will present an overview of 2014 and provide updated reports from each CONCACAF member state on the current status of their programmes. The workshop will also serve as a session to assess and agree on strategies for the continued development of the game of football within CONCACAF for 2015.

FIFA Development Officer, Howard McIntosh is pleased that the meeting of CONCACAF’s Technical Development and Development Officers is being staged in Jamaica and has great expectations of the workshop in developing amicable strategies to further the game’s development in 2015.

“I am elated that we can stage this workshop here in Jamaica. I have long been an advocate of hosting International seminars, tournaments and workshops locally and this along with the ongoing CONCACAF Under-20 Championships is testament that progress is being made. The CONCACAF confederation has made an enormous impact in the international arena and the future of the region’s football continues to look brighter and brighter. It is up to the FIFA development staff now, to continue the work that was started and improve upon the foundations established so we can secure additional growth for the game in the region,” said McIntosh.
