Honey Bun Commercial Wins International Gold

Independent pastry bakery Honey Bun has won a gold award in the Caribbean Advertising Federation (CAF) tier of the American Advertising Awards or “ADDY” Awards.  The sweet snack operation was the only Jamaican company in the region to receive gold, for its Cinnamon Roll TV commercial entitled ‘Serve’ which depicts a humorous take on the authentic Jamaican ‘shop’ experience. Produced by OGM Integrated Communications, the 15-second commercial is in line with their new “Life’s Just More Fun with Honey Bun” campaign.

“Part of the Honey Bun experience is that our products are often a fun part Jamaicans’ everyday lives, and we wanted our ad to really convey that fun. This is why we are so proud to recognized for something that looks and feels authentically Jamaican.” said Honey Bun marketing executive Janelle Brown. “Many times persons equate being innovative to appearing “foreign” but this award proves that you can be recognized and still remain authentically Jamaican.”

The Caribbean was represented by 33 different companies representing seven island nations including US Virgin Islands, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman.

The baking operation, owned and operated by the Chong family for 34 years, is committed to continued excellence and innovation in advertising, as they make strides to upgrade its branding and packaging, both in Jamaica and internationally.

‘Serve’ is one of several ads in the Honey Bun Life’s Just More Fun campaign including the Goldie commercial, which is especially popular with teens. Other ads are expected to air later in the year.  Consumers can view Honey Bun ads on mainstream local TV, as well as
