According to Francis the run which is under the theme “Tutus and tall socks. Colour Edition” can be used by groups preparing for the upcoming track and field season.
“There aren’t a lot of runs left on the calendar this season so it provides a great opportunity for them to background training as they get in full gear for the upcoming season,” added Francis.
The 2018 ICWI/Jamaica Reach to Recovery Pink Run is the culmination of a month of activities coordinated by the Jamaica Cancer Society to mark the month of October, which is internationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The run which is in its 18th year, and fourth year with ICWI as the title sponsor raises awareness and much-needed funds for the Jamaica Cancer Society’s Jamaica Reach to Recovery.
Jamaica Reach to Recovery is an affiliate of the Jamaica Cancer Society that provides emotional psychological and financial support to breast cancer survivors. Reach to Recovery consists of volunteers, all of whom are breast cancer survivors, whose roles, in addition to those previously mentioned, also includes providing information and counselling to breast cancer survivors and by extension their families and friends
Registration for the ICWI/Jamaica Reach to Recovery Pink Run 5K is open online for individuals and teams. Individual registration is $1500 and team registration is $1200 per person for teams consisting of 50 or more persons. You can visit www.runningeventsja.com for further information.
